The Rose City Drive-In (located in Newark, New York) opened on July 19, 1956 and closed on October 6, 1984. The revival of the drive-in began earlier this year when the property was purchased. Paul Cole, the visionary behind the resurrection of Rose City Drive-In, understood the significance of capturing the community’s nostalgic essence. He said, “The spot holds great memories for older residents of the area. The goal of a reborn Rose City Drive-In is to create new memories.” (Finger Lakes Times).
Cole knew that the reopening would bring a lot of memories back to the community. He wanted to make sure he was able to get the word out to create buzz and excitement. Additionally, he wanted to somehow honor the original marquee sign that used to stand in its place yet put a modern swing on it.
